#1601 BEACH PANTS IN TWO LENGTHS OR SHORTS [Sizes 24-32] Learn the secrets of elastic while making casual unisex weekend pants. Separate waist casing with elastic or drawstring. Straight-legged or gathered at ankle. Side seam and back pockets. Sew two kinds of pockets.

Suggested fabric: Laundered cottons, batiks, lightweight pique or poplin, seersucker, twill, sateen, soft lightweight linen and linen blends. Extra fabric needed to match stripes or plaids. NOTES: Make sure fabric is full 45" or 60" wide. For every 2 yards, buy 1/4 yard extra to allow for shrinkage.

Notions: All-purpose polyester thread, 2 yds 1/2" wide twill tape for drawstring waist, 1"x3", 1yd 1 1/4" wide elastic for waist, piece of fusible interfacing for drawstring holes, four cones of polyester serger thread (optional).
